Learn about Research & Clinical Trials
Vasculitis Pregnancy Registry
The purpose of this study is to learn about the experience of women with vasculitis who become pregnant. In particular, the study will consist of several online surveys to assess 1. each woman's vasculitis severity and pregnancy-related experiences, and 2. pregnancy outcomes.
VCRC Tissue Repository
The purpose of this study is to collect existing tissue specimens from subjects enrolled in Vasculitis Clinical Research Consortium (VCRC) studies. Analysis of these tissue specimens and linked clinical data collected through VCRC studies may lead to the identification and development of a series of translational research projects. Results of these studies will provide vasculitis researchers with insight into the causes of these diseases and generate new ideas for diagnostic tests and therapies, and will be of great interest to the larger communities of researchers investigating vasculitis and other autoimmune, inflammatory, and ...
Ventilator-associated Injury (VAI) in Chronic Home Mechanical Ventilation
Rationale: The pathophysiological changes in respiratory muscle morphology and functioning in patients with end-stage pulmonary disease are not very well known. Furthermore, in COPD, long-term high-intensity NIV is applied without knowing the exact consequences on the lungs and respiratory muscles. Objective: The aims of the study are to get insight in: A. changes respiratory muscles in end-stage respiratory disease, comparing COPD with restrictive lung disease (RLD) due to pulmonary fibrosis B. the effects of long-term HI-NIV in severe COPD patients on the respiratory muscles and the lungs; by comparing COPD patients ...
Vinblastine/Prednisone Versus Single Therapy With Cytarabine for Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis (LCH)
Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis (LCH) is a type of cancer that can damage tissue or cause lesions to form in one or more places in the body. Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH) is a cancer that begins in LCH cells (a type of dendritic cell which fights infection). Sometimes there are mutations (changes) in LCH cells as they form. These include mutations of the BRAF gene. These changes may make the LCH cells grow and multiply quickly. This causes LCH cells to build up in certain parts of the body, where they can damage tissue or form lesions. For most patients with LCH, standard-of-care vinblastine/prednisone are used as front-line ...
Zephyrus II: Efficacy and Safety Study of Pamrevlumab in Participants With Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF)
This is a Phase 3 trial to evaluate the efficacy and safety of 30 mg/kg intravenous (IV) infusions of pamrevlumab administered every 3 weeks as compared to placebo in participants with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF). There is a 48-week randomized treatment phase followed by an optional, open-label extension phase.
129Xe Gas Exchange Imaging in IPF and cHP: A Reliability Study
This research is a study to test the reliability of Hyperpolarized Xenon MRI (HXe MRI) as a biomarker in interstitial lung disease. The study is a non-randomized study to evaluate the test-retest performance of HXe MRI in Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) and chronic Hypersensitivity Pneumonitis (cHP) as a non-invasive biomarker of disease severity and prognosis. The study will include approximately 15 subjects with IPF, 15 subjects with cHP and 10 sex and age-matched normal controls performed across 3 sites.
An Atlas of Airways at a Single Cell Level in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis and Controls
The increasing incidence of chronic respiratory disease is a public health problem that affects hundreds of thousands of people worldwide at all ages. Directly exposed to atmospheric airborne contaminants (pollution, allergens), the respiratory tract represents a complex ecosystem involving different cells (multiciliated, basal, mucosecretory, neuroendocrine, etc.) that develop complex interactions with the surrounding connective tissue but also with their rich immune environment and the local microbiota. Although a pathophysiological continuum is postulated between the nasal and bronchial airways in certain diseases, such as...
A Phase 2 Study of APX-115 in Hospitalized Patients With Confirmed Mild to Moderate COVID-19.
This phase 2 study is to assess the safety and tolerability of APX-115 active doses compared to placebo following multiple oral dosing in hospitalized patients with confirmed, mild to moderate, symptomatic COVID-19. It is anticipated that approximately 80 patients will be randomized into the study in a 1:1 ratio to 100 mg APX-115 or placebo arm.
Assessment of Continuous Positive Airway Pressure Therapy in IPF
The purpose of this study is to evaluate whether biomarkers of lung injury and remodeling are responsive to effective continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) treatment in adults with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) and moderate-to-severe obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).
Assessment of Interstitial Lung Disease in Rheumatoid Arthritis by Lung Ultrasound
The high resolution chest scan is the gold standard for the screening of interstitial lung disease, but this remains an onerous examination, and irradiating. Ultrasound could be used to detect these disorders with a very good sensitivity and specificity. This exam offers the advantage of being non radiating, inexpensive, and accessible to the rheumatologist who already uses it in their daily practice. The investigators want to assess the lung ultrasound performance compared with the gold standard. Patients will be included during a regular follow-up consultation with their referent rheumatologist. If there is an...
